Now and Again... Let's Play the Same Name Game!
Posted: 2006-05-01 16:27:09
There was a fantastic Sci-Fi show on television in 1999 called "
Now and Again
" that had a unique and exciting premise and a kick-butt group of actors. It died a tragic premature death much like the show's main character did. But not because it wasn't good, it was phenomenal as a matter of fact, but because another show premiered the same year with an almost identical name... "Once and Again".
Now and Again
" could not gain traction because everyone kept getting it confused with the sappy night-time soap opera.
The storyline was about an insurance salesman, Michael Wiseman (Played by John Goodman AND Eric Close), who was killed in a subway accident. The government was able to keep his brain alive and place it into a genetically bio-engineered body with super-human abilities. But there was a catch, he could not contact his grieving wife and daughter or the government would terminate him and his family.
The actors played off of each other seamlessly as if they had know their characters forever, and each episode built off of the excitement from the last. Shows don't get much better than this in the first season. Too bad this one never got a fair shot.
I gave this one a 9-10 in the
of this site. The
plays this series from time to time, if you get the chance, give it a watch and you won't be disappointed. I was lucky enought to have recorded it off the air when it played but I can't wait for this one to come out on DVD.

Excellent show. Too short. The characters were well done. Love the exchange between them all.
