Ok, I was hugely skeptical when I went to see the new Avatar movie. The trailer made it look like a poor attempt to ride off the coattails of the Avatar: Air Bender show. But that perception couldn't have been farther from the mark.
Not only did the world of Pandora wind up being a feast for your senses, but the story was actually well developed.
Even though computer animation still isn't quite up to the task of creating a 100% realistic character, it was close enough and the characters were very likable... and I must admit Neytiri was hot!
Though the movie is almost three hours long, you will come out of the theater satisfied and full of wonder. This is a must see for any scifi/fantasy fan!

Seriously?? I mean seriously???? Ok, I didn't see it in the theater, so no 3D. Which I imagine kind of changes how I view this movie. To me though, it boils down to this. Very impressive visuals with an incredibly contrived, boring and formulaic "Dances with Wolves" story. I'd give it 4 stars out of 10, with all the props going to the effects and Stephen Lang. Everything else was very disappointing.
