Keen on Eddie... How do you like him so far?Erik_Schubach   Posted: 2006-02-16 12:53:53   Updated: 2006-02-16 12:54:11

Another cancelled-too-soon Fox Network show that I recently revisited is Keen Eddie. A smart and exciting action/adventure/drama/comedy that I feel did not get it's fair shake on the air in the states. The humor was perhaps a little to sophisticated for the US audience.

Eddie was an American cop assigned to a unit in London England in a cultural exchange program.

The smooth interaction between the characters and the witty dialogue, especially between him, his partner and his reluctant roommate, made this show a big hit with me and I ranked it 8-10 in the movie section of this site.

Keen Eddie with his partner and roommate.

I tried to like it. I really really tried. But I just couldn't take the fast camera movements. It never sits still at all, its always moving. It's an interesting style but one that my eyes and brain just couldn't handle. It's the kind of show that causes epileptic attacks.

Uhm, think not. Not at all. It was a fine show. Interesting. Quirky. A cut above the normal drivel currently in vogue with the viewers of tv. The dog. The partner. The roommate. All good. Fun. Cut too short, too fast.

The dog was cool. I really liked the dog, and the relationship between the girl and eddie was really well done. I was curious to see how that played out. But I just couldn't get past how it was shot. It hurt my head watching it.

The filming style for Keen Eddie was reminicent of the 1986 TV show "Stingray". I thought it mirrored Eddie's perceptions of the situations and added to the atmosphere of the storyline.

Just watching the characters develop in the later episodes would make it well worth the headache you get. And the interesting thing is that he does not get the girl, even though they both seem confused by it.

I don't remember Stingray, but that could be because I was in the single digits in 1986.

Your review of Lord of War in your podcast is way way way wrong btw.
